Back to school season is about to begin and we couldn’t be more excited about it. This year our oldest starts Kindergarten! I’ve heard all of the back-to-school horror stories before, all about the tough mornings and mad dash to get out the door on time. Luckily enough, he has always been an early riser and we are up before seven most days. This should make for an easy transition (fingers crossed).

I decided to get ahead of the game and put some thought into how we want to prepare our bathroom space with early morning departures in mind. I chose to add duplicates of everything from their bathroom (upstairs) in our powder bath (downstairs). It’s the closest bathroom to the front door and I can foresee some rushed mornings taking place in this bathroom. I keep two extra toothbrushes, toothpaste, a hairbrush, a stool, and plenty of kid-sized towels on hand. I also keep Quilted Northern Ultra Soft & Strong® (Mega Rolls). These rolls have four times the amount with all of the same trusted comfort. These last four times as long as a regular roll and are great for little ones who tend to use a bit too much while learning about bathroom hygiene.

My hope is that having everything prepped will set them up for successful mornings, a good start to their day. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day they say, but I also feel the energy with which you leave your home can set the tone for type of day you are going to have. I am trying to make the mornings as stress-free as possible and hopefully give them the confidence they need to tackle their day. It’s easy to incorporate these changes into our newly renovated bathroom. Inspired by a recent purchase of a Havana Nights themed pop art poster, I brought in some palm fronds to bring some of the outdoors inside. I paired that with simple weaved baskets for a minimalist island feel.

In order to get them more involved and even more excited about school this year I decided to make crafts with left-over tubes. These are great for kid crafts, they are small enough and simple enough to manipulate into all kinds of shapes and sizes. In order to really give them a sense of participation in this morning process the boys made exactly what they wanted. We broke out the craft supplies and they made their very own toothbrush holders. Getting children involved in the process is the easiest way to get them excited and on-board.

Each morning they wake up excited to see their creation and it encourages them to remember to brush their teeth and get ready for their day. The joy it already brings them to see their artwork on display in our powder bath is enough to fill my heart. I hope they will come back home from school with the same look ready to tell me all about their new experiences!
