Balancing Investments and Family Travel

Planning a family is something that happens to some extent. While we’d hoped for a family of our own, it happened when we least expected it. Shortly after finding out we were pregnant with our first child, my husband and I found ourselves without a job. I had been laid off from my long-time work in the construction industry, and he had a falling out with his then employer.

It was pickle we hadn’t expected to fall into. Luckily we had been saving for years and had a decent nest egg to fall back on to float us into our next stage of life comfortably. While this isn’t the case in many homes, we certainly dealt with the dread of wondering what would come next. The stress began to take a toll on my health and I wound up having to really slow things down in my life.

From that moment on, we decided as parents never to get caught with our pants down like that again. We wanted to plan for our future and be sure to enjoy it. I’d had my own experiences with life insurance issue from my past that haunted me, but we needed a little more guarantee when it came to what we wanted to enjoy as a family in our later years. With my husband’s line of work (the hair industry), retirement is a dream, but not often a reality. Family Travel
