If you follow my blog, you know I’m pretty much obsessed with going green. I’ve explained before that ‘Green’ is a verb, it’s a way of life. It’s all about the journey, not the destination. It’s been a few years since I’ve become a conscious buyer and tried to implement these choices across all areas of my life and home. I worked hard at first to tackle the tough stuff, like kitchen and bathroom cleaners. Anything truly toxic and harmful to young children. From there I have moved on to other areas of my home.
Anything worth having is worth fighting for. Some areas we discovered we weren’t totally green in weren’t easy to replace. While I aspire to be ‘Zero Waste’ and completely organic, balance is key. Taking on everything all at once can lead to a “green” meltdown and discourage you from any change at all. Taking small steps, exploring what works, and finding a permanent natural alternative is way more effective than trying to replace your entire household and lifestyle practice, then failing and going back to a toxic lifestyle that harms the planet. Just sayin’..
Cat litter is one of those areas you may not instinctually think to ‘go green’. However, the harsh chemicals in most traditional cat litter can have damaging effects. World’s Best Cat Litter™ is the only litter on the market made with 100% naturally absorbent whole-kernel corn. The concentrated power of corn offers outstanding odor control, is quick-clumping and easy scooping, lightweight, 99% dust free, flushable and septic safe, and pet, people and planet friendly. One bag can last one cat more than 30 days! That’s a major savings for most pet owners.
We recently purchased a new litter for our kitty since she is finally comfortable with using a covered litter box (rescue animals usually take a bit to warm up), and she loves it! I was concerned that she would shy away from this new litter due to its corn like consistency, but we have had zero issues! They even come in five different formulas:
