We are officially in back to school mode. Although I spent time over the summer working with our school’s PTA to ensure a smooth start, now it’s time to focus on the boys. Back to school shopping can be a point of contention in some families, so we avoid the headaches at all costs. We keep things pretty simple with these three keys:
The boys have already established a bit if their own style. We steer clear of clothing filled with cartoon characters, and aim more for the solid basics. Stripes, raglans, color block, are all simple ways to by-pass the influx of non-stop branding. We believe kids should be off-limits, not sold to at a constant rate from birth. The classic style of Osh Kosh makes it easy to select fun graphic tees that express the boys’ interest without being overbearing. Plus were having a lot of fun layering prints and graphics.
I’ve never been one to follow the trend. If it doesn’t feel right, then I don’t do it. Don’t feel pressured to race to the stores during tax-free weekend. Don’t run over everyone in sight to make it to the sale before everything is gone. Instead, work the sales long before crunch time and ensure you have acquired everything you need. Also, take advantage of online shopping, while kids sizes change faster than anything I know, the excellent return policy at Osh Kosh is designed to cater to your needs. Take advantage of the extra time you get to spend with the kids before the busy schedule kicks in again.
While most people are focusing on how they are going to make it through, it helps to think of those who are struggling to meet their own needs. Single parents, low-income families, all face different struggles during back to school time so giving back in any way you can with conscious spending is essential. The B’gosh Jeanius Campaign as an annual effort to support Osh Kosh B’Gosh customer’s local communities with donated clothing and school supply needs.
